It's not that easy a switch when there are fang dragon halfies and... other dragon halfies ;).

Btw, the same goes for cleric abilities.

My poor planned Fang Dragon Halfie, Monk, Sacred Fist, Cleric... you died before your time.

A monk who becomes nonlawful cannot gain new levels as a monk but retains all monk abilities.
Like a member of any other class, a monk may be a multiclass character, but multiclass monks face a special restriction. A monk who gains a new class or (if already multiclass) raises another class by a level may never again raise her monk level, though she retains all her monk abilities.
No, it's actually an intentional "feature" that has existed on the server from the beginning (server was only a few months old when I joined and it was there then), primarily to stop certain alignment-based "cheats" such as the ever-popular paladin/blackguard.

Isn't Paladins going blackguard how it is suppose to work in the book if a paladin falls?

I've dropped a vague line into the Wiki entries for monk, paladin, and blackguard. I'll leave it to those who have experienced this to detail exactly what does and does not work.

I don't suppose there is a quest line that promotes Lawfulness that can be used to get back into Monkish good graces?

And this whole topic has given me an idea for an death knight/paladin. Miltiades clone :P

I would think that if you haven't used the non-lawful status to take levels in a class that prohibits lawful adherents, a DM or EM might be able to help you out (although some RP may be required!)

Alternatively, if you don't want to wait on an EM or a DM this problem may be solved through a complete rebuild of the character. Granted, that's kind of a nuclear option... ^_^;;
