I just know the basics, everything beyond the sum of the Blood War is beyond me. :lol:rapsam2003,Jun 1 2016 wrote: @Godolia il Magus: Wasn't there some theory that, due to Tharizdun creating the Abyss accidentally in the way that it happened, the Abyss is always "growing" and new layers were added over time? I can't remember where I saw that, but it seems viable if we consider the background of Tharizdun: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Tharizdun. The seed of the Abyss that he planted could still be expanding, for all we know.

In theory it's about -1/12Sinlinara,Jun 1 2016 wrote: I think the real question we have to ask ourselves is... Just how big of an infinity is the Abyss?

That is pretty interesting!rapsam2003 wrote:@Godolia il Magus: Wasn't there some theory that, due to Tharizdun creating the Abyss accidentally in the way that it happened, the Abyss is always "growing" and new layers were added over time? But I think there is also different lore. I think there used to be lore in 2e that baatezu weren't natives or the first race in baator, and tanar'ri were created by some other long lost race ...
In 3.5 I think they made the race as elder demons. I think the lore involves that they escaped the abyss and found the planes at an early stage and waged a war, which is what led to upper planes retaliation and creation of devils.
I always prefer it when they leave things contradictory and mysterious personally =)

Would you be surprised if I told you that Lord AO stands for Lord Alpha and Omega (Bible, Revelations) and that he means to be, metanarratively, the symbol of every dungeon master that runs a game? :DStrawberry Jam,Jun 1 2016 wrote: I always prefer it when they leave things contradictory and mysterious personally =)
In perfect pair with the Lady of Pain, inspired by Our Lady of Sorrows (blessed Virgin Mary), which is also a symbol for every dungeon master? People back then must have smoked something hotter than pure cocaine.
