Playing Nwn2 With Friend Without Port Fowarding?

After numerous attempts to connect to the same game, we have come up empty. From what I have read, it seems port fowarding is the reason for this. Neither of us have access to our router password, so port fowarding is NOT an option. Is there any other way to play together?

Did you just lose the password or are you playing on a router that is not one you are allowed to have the password to?

It is a long story, but just all assume for this that any and all access the router homepage in which we would forward the ports is 100% impossible in our current situation.

A VPN might do the trick, possibly.
