Yeah, nwn2 keeps a few 3.0 rules, like from some of the in betweener supplement books, but primarily uses 3.5, as opposed to Neverwinter, which I believe pulls straight from 4.0.

It has to do with the fact that a very large portion of this game was simply built on top of NWN1, which was a completely 3.0 game.

Neverwinter claims to be based on 4th Edition...but it's really just it's own game with some nods to D&D. I played it, briefly. It has a better combat engine than nwn 1 or 2 does, but the lack of any real roleplay elements keeps it from being a staple in my gaming life.

I think that Save Species was designed for 3.0, which was the edition of the game I was mostly interested in finding the rule for. The way casting is described between 3.0 and 3.5 is much different .

From the 3.0 perspective, the requirement is is being able to speak, and having "human like" hands for somatic components.

From the 3.5 perspective, the requirement is being able to vocalize and gesture. That implies to me that essentially, if you can make noises and wiggle any part of your body, you can cast a spell.

I prefer the 3.5 rules generally speaking, but there are a lot of players who prefer the more limiting 3.0 rule set, so I wanted to know what that version of the game had to say about this issue.
