When the general consensus dictates we ignore the flagrant players who do not role play but look at our fair server as a playground, a somewhat elitest outlook is going to be assumed of anyone who broaches the subject directly. We can only be expected to ignore so much.

I still think the benefits of a dark dweller environment outweigh the potential drawbacks of it. The population is already split in multitudes of directions leaving only the Fountain Sitters readily available for GM involved events or interactions, it's very easy for a GM to look at one place for one group and another place for another group based on their intended event instead of having to go with luck of the draw as to what's available at a single location and hope that only those intended for the situation take an interest.

Hard to have a NPC looking to hire an assassin for a side event leading to future rp when all the paladins and Harmonium are at the bar, ya know?

As to Dev time, as I said, I'm sure there are plenty willing to volunteer who could put in the dev time so all that would be required of staff was agreement to implement and implementation time

so did a thread about a drow with a viking name suddenly turn into a thread about how the only way to play a drow is the forgotten realms way then branched off into how there needs to be an special hub for evil people?

cool

in my opinion there doesn't need to be an underdark area because do you really want half the server in special little areas whose inhabitants aren't allowed to go to the other special little area so you end up splitting an already small server up

Having a "shady area" has an upside and a downside. I have played on servers with Underdark areas, it DOES split the population and it DOES decrease the amount of RP you will get by a significant amount. The upside is that it would not force me to compromise the originality of the character I have envisioned. So far my character is FAR too nice for my taste and it is a natural outgrowth of having to stand in the common area to find RP.

I think a happy compromise would be to have quick access between the two areas. I could see myself taking a long walk down to the "shady" area only to find an empty bar. I will then sit there for possibly hours before one person would show up, or I might log off. That is where interest in evil characters dies, as it does on other servers since the ratio of "good" to "evil" players is very skewed (not a bad thing necessarily). I believe this could be fixed by allowing relatively safe, quick passage between the areas. Perhaps a portal of some sort that only some of the more "informationally connected" types would know about that leads down there as Orchid may have suggested?

Now this, I'd disagree with. When I am looking to make an event happen, there's quite a few things that are going to come to mind. The bazaar and inn tend to be more likely starting points mainly because that's where everyone is at. Now, there are some areas that I will not attempt to start events from: beastlands, minauros, abyss, and mercuria because they are prime grinding areas and if you're there I'm going to assume you're not looking for RP, any area used regularly by people for ERP because I don't want to accidentally walk in on naked people, and Carceri because oh my god I need to get out of here!

On a normal night, I will jump around from place to place to see what's going on in different areas. If I see a group of people clustered in the undersigil town, I'm likely going to look... and perhaps a quest could generate. But of 26 out of 27 players are in the bazaar, I see little reason to look elsewhere. XD

Adding another social area that is a bit more difficult to get to but pays off by having a lack of "law" would serve a dual function. More opportunity for dark RP, more opportunity for the "Experienced" cutters to gather together while the clueless are left in the kiddy pool. Might not sound like a great idea to some, but others will agree albeit quietly with arms waving in the background.

Not a place for paladins to hang out, instead a place for shady deals and stolen merchandise, slave trading, street brawls and possibly illegal pit fighting. At the moment I'm just asking for an AT leading into a common room with a bar.. not even a working bar tender, some chairs and tables would be more than enough so long as the place is very dim or dark soothing the eyes of those who prefer dark vision.
Currently, I do no think that there is an area for the Bleaker's Gatehouse. I would describe it as a notable lack, because just outside the Gatehouse we have Sigil's other in-famous bazaar, the Night Market. The third paragraph of the quoted text above could be used to describe the Night Market.

Perhap's Khazeet's would be better located over there.
