Given the insane number of resistances some monsters on SCoD have, I think it's nice that there exists a suit of armor that can grant regular folks without the capacity to bypass such resistances an ability that does.

I forgot about Blazing Aura bypassing resistances when I made my earlier posts, silly me.

Yes, it does become cheesy with folks using manyshot and a bow, but I expect those toons might be picking the feat in their build, rather than relying on getting it from items. That, and a set of full plate doesn't offer the best AC benefit for a dexterity/wisdom build.

The Brazen set is pretty balanced, IMHO. Let's leave it at that.

Brazen Set is actually very good in terms of design philosophy, it should be viewed as the etalon rather than the 'overpowered' one.

Why?
  • It doesn't sacrifice AC compared the generic +5 set every PC eventually wears. This makes it appealing to fighters who normally wouldn't want to compromise their already poor AC.
  • It has a clear bonus and a clear weakness.
  • It provides something interesting in the form of active abilities, neither of which are very bonkers if you think about it.
Blazing Aura is only borderline bonkers when you have High Wis and apply it to Manyshot; most people wearing Brazen don't have a high enough Wis to bother tho, nor do they use ranged weapons.
