Cu'atha Da'nanin hands five stones each to Kelth and Naya.

Naya'il took her five sensory stones from Cua'tha on that meeting in the Festhall back to the quiet of her Inn room and recorded for the purposes of the final step of her initiation her first sensations that she was willing to share with her fellow members, the sensates.
Sight
Sigil. It seems appropriate somehow to record for my initiation into the society my first experience of this city. I was thrust through the whirling light of the portal from the woods of the faerie ring near Baldur's Gate into the gloomiest place, dirtiest city I have ever encounted - not that I've encounted many. A far cry from the pleasant woods and fields of my home near Elturel. The sight of smog, rain and lack of any form or normal sunlight hit me first as well as the vision of this 'ring' that circled the roofs and towers.
Sound
Noisy. The constant clamour of a city that doesn't sleep, whisper and bustle, street brawling and arguments. Barrels being rolled across the street cobbles towards the Inn where I 'appeared', shouts from the guards and raucous laughter from harlots as they ply their trade. One cannot always either avoid the sounds of what ensues after they have found their mark and turn to a shady corner to earn their coin.
Smell
And the stench! Offends my nostrils like nothing before and worse if you stand near to the sewers. Like...rotting vegetable and decaying flesh or worse, that of body effluent. I am sure the locals use the corner between fence and Inn wall as a urinal.
Touch
If there is one sense that I may fail to give good account of - this is the one. For reasons of my own I tend to limit this sense, particularly where it involves other people and the filth I see does not make me wish to explore this one with any great desire. All I can give for initial experience of Sigil is the sense of surety beneath my feet as I touched down onto the cobblestones of Sigil after flying through that magic portal. Feet to the ground, I felt marginally in control again.
Taste
On my first breath I tasted the soot in the air, the distinct and unpleasant flavour of acidic mineral in the rainwater that hit my face. I soon learned to tip helm down to the elements. Oh, and the soup at the Inn is not unpleasant. A hearty dish although I could not determine the type of meat used...I have a horrible feeling it could be rat.

Smell
Tha scent o' tha lavender fields, deep within tha beastlands.....lavender sooths me......it takes away me headaches......it takes away even my most thunderin' rage.....it makes me feel at ease....the scent...makes me think more clear....it's mild tae take in.....lingers in me nose.....a slight, nice tingle in me 'ead....an me 'eart.....
Taste

Sound
Tha Grey Wastes....they hold no sound......nae even tha walkin' dead seem tae make much sound.......nowt but eerie silence.......sometimes....t'is almoost as if tha silence itself becomes a soound.....a high pitched beep in me ears......or...ye start tae imagine sounds.......like wind.....or a voice......especially when ye are there fer nearly a full day.......one would start tae talk tae theirself only fer tha sake of stayin' sane yonder.....
Touch
Presence.....tha's me choice fer touch......tha presence of someone near ye.....ye kin feel it......but yer nae feelin' it....savvy? A person ye care fer.....deeply....ye tend tae pick up their presence more....intense than a stranger's presence.....ye experience it as somethin' nice....soothin' ... safe....
On Tha Bazaar, on a croowded day......tha presence o' a stranger kin make ye feel all types o'things......awkwardness, soothing, at ease, aggrivating......an if ye step oout of their busy doings....an jus' "feel" fer a moment....dedicated.....ye kin even pick up moods from people.....or well....I kin....a sixth sense? nae.......just allowin' people's intentions an' inner cores tae touch yers....an' by tha' let people "be" ...... *As the final record ended, Kelth glanced at the sensates whom had viewed them, awaiting their conclusions*

* Kelth smiled as he placed his recent stone in the archive*
*The stone would reveal his conversation with Erin and a bit with the Dustie Hin*
*a shard of the conversation.....*
Hoow is it, tae imagine all tha is aroound ye?
" I end up getting surprised pretty much all the time....everything is a product of my imagination.....it's impossible to anticipate what will come next...."
hmh...interestin'
*the conversation being pleasant and open, and even the "dustie" was welcomed along with it....Kelth tried to be as open as he could and listen to both....mayhap not agreeing, but surely enriching his knowledge*

Rather bored of lying on her bed with little to do but recover, Naya decides to set some of recent experiences she is willing to share to sensory stones and charges Piri to deliver them without fail to Sensate Factotum in the Civic Festhall.
The Scent of Nostalgia
Beauty can lie within a fragrance. So too does a pleasant memory, one that calls me back to my childhood home and life on Toril. The scent of lavender wafting gently around the bedroom, coming from the vase of flowers does just that. A particular favourite of mine that scent, one I use as regular as I can source and afford within the soaps I buy from the city merchants.
Its benefits and pleasures to me are twofold. Firstly, its properties I hold in high esteem, infused into a tea, crushed to oil and mixed into balm or ointment are able to sooth, relax to sleep and bring natural relief and cleansing to wounded flesh - while I am no keen herbalist, that one I am very familiar with. Secondly, the fact that it can carry my mind back to pleasant days walking through fields where it grew, trailing hand across those blue bush tops when in full flower, leaving the scent on my hand and skirts, picking bunches for storing and drying to put into linen cloth for displaying about the cottage...yes..the image in my mind of its scent fills me with nostalgia for my mother and home.

With a gentle smile, Naya taps the recorder stone to bring the memory to the fore, enjoys it, savours the memory once more, before placing it within the Society's shared vault of recorder stones.
A First Folk Dance
A pace backwards, a stomp forwards, paces to the side, holding hands then returning to the middle of the room and taken to a spin, golden hair flying about, hair bells tinkling as they circled, laughter then more 'ranting' - a crossing of ankle, then a stamp of foot, a hop, repeated again with the other foot leading, and all in time to the beat of the folk drum, the sounds of that folk music coming from sensory stones, the room still swathed with animal skins, the first folk dance with partner ever made....steps repeated, room becoming hotter, skin flushing from the wilder movements as the music upped tempo..until the end of the final refrain, panting, dropping to the floor, amidst the pile of cushions by the fire...more laughing.

Since there is a lot of confusion about what these things are, what they do and who has access to them, Here is a basic rundown:
Sensory sensory stones and their creation are the sole dominion of the Society of Sensation and it's members. Rarely are these items allowed to be removed from the festhall and especially not blank ones.
A stone contains a raw copy of the physical and emotional sensations associated with the event being recorded. Anyone watching the stone experiences everything contained in the stone as it was perceived by the original recorder.
It will not:
*Be clear and accurate recording of things as they occurred (Details will only be as clear or fuzzy as the recorder would have noticed them. If it is not part of what the recorder experienced it's not going to show up. This does not stop a third party from noticing anything unusual.)
*In the third person
*Pickup any dialog, stray thoughts, magic or other information that are not directly related to the sensory experiences.
*Able to be falsified consciously. If the stone picks up a falsified account, it would have to be because the recorder perceived the contents that way themself.
Any stone found outside of the Festhall outside of Sensate hands is ALWAYS stolen with very rare, limited, exceptions which would have to be approved by someone of suitable rank. If you purchase one it is still very much stolen property and will be noticed.
(Members caught selling stones, ESPECIALLY blanks, stand to be punished severely (and potentially kicked out.)
The sensoriums and recording offices are one of the few places in the hall that would actually be guarded. Seeing these getting stolen/traded so often and so easily is more then a little ridiculous.
(As an aside. By actual planescape lore they do not even function outside of the festhall. But I understand this was altered for purposes of the server)
