So whenever I try to log on to the server the game starts to auto download the latest 2-3 patches. Normally that's not a problem, but now it keeps locking up at nearly the same point every time.
Anyone else experience this? Did you find a way around it? Is there a way to manually install the patches?

Delete the file you get stuck to, let it install it fresh. That usually deals with it.
