Just a little something my character Rhethys Crimson might have asked for...

A class focused on summoning and controlling fiends! Details can be found on the Wiki. Mostly based on the Demonologist PRC from the Book of Vile Darkness, but a few things had to be mixed and matched to replace features that the game engine wouldn't allow.

This PRC seems very neat indeed, though the burning question is will the fiends from the class feature be viable (With buff support and whatnot, of course, you're a wizard) in endgame areas? Otherwise the entire PrC falls flat because the Summon Monster line doesn't scale up into epics well at all. But if the fiends are still viable there's still a reason to actually take the class instead of taking Epic Gate, still gimping yourself mind, and calling it a day.

4+int is quite a lot of skill points, given the scarcity of class skills and the high int the average demonologist is going to have. are you sure it's not 2+int?

Niryain: the fiendish summons are actually quite good, and with the right amount of buffing should be quite useful up to the abyssal areas. One thing I did differently was to give class levels instead of monster levels, so you're going to find them to be feat-rich compared with most summons. Also, take note of the Summoning Mastery feat; when combined with the statistical bonuses of Augment Summons, your standard monster-summoning spells will be considerably more viable than those of a default caster.

I also actually think that since I've been working in this and have had a chance to look over the different summons, one of my upcoming projects may wind up being a rework of the summoning tables, both to provide balance across alignments and to better fit the different summoning spells into better categories, e.g., level 2 summons will all be "agile support", level 3 will be "tank", and so forth, instead of now where the same spell might give a LG character a ranged caster type but a CE gets a melee DPS, something that I've tried hard to do both in the Planar Call feat in the planar domains and in the differing LE/CE fiends for this class.

Doc: the 4+Int is actually that or the base class from the BoVD; they just have a LOT of silly class skills that don't translate well like Decipher Script and Ride. I figure the bonus and the high points will make it easier for demonologist characters to spend those points on cross-class skills and maybe lessen the need of wasting an early feat on able learner.

A while back there had been talk of a Dedicated Summoner class.

Is this it? Will there be different varieties of this class for people who want to summon non-demons?

Don't recall that conversation, but I know it wasn't me. I chose the Demonologist to make because of the planar nature of its abilities, plus this is a class I've always RPed one of my characters as having "off the character sheet".

What is it you're looking for, Orlitag, and what (if any) PnP PRCs come close to matching what you're looking for?

Will there be choice as for the 'henchmen' type summon, or only one generic fiend summoned by all demonologist ?

The Summoner that had been mentioned was to built around around having multiple critters out at once, with auto extended duration built into the class features, but was not focused explicitly on Demons.... I think i recall mention of a class ability that was an upgrade to the feat: Augment Summoning, but I could be mistaken about that.

Having the class summons as Henchmen helps greatly, as you can have at least 2 at once then...

Is it possible to build a class feature that extends only the various summon spells?

Will this class (or any variant) get a bonus to the DCs of their planar binding/dismissal spells?

Alsya: the summon will be dependent upon the PC's position on the law/chaos axis; lawful characters will get advanced Erinyes while chaotic characters will get Incubi. These summons also become more powerful as they advance in level. Also do note that the effects of Summoning Mastery, along with those of the Augment Summoning prereq, will cause your normal monster summon spells to be considerably more effective.

Orlitoq: I did consider both of these, but decided otherwise for two reasons. First of all, the PnP demonologist's ability only effects normal summon spells, not planar binding. The PnP Summoning Mastery actually "upgrades" the summon spells to a higher level version, but remember in PnP you summon hit dice worth of creatures rather than specific individuals. As for dismissal and banishment. these fall into the abjuration rather than conjuration school.

And with this and other things in mind, I'm definitely thinking that my next project is going to be cleaning up the summoning tables as I mentioned in my earlier post. Or if not next, than in the VERY near future.
